Nigeria will face either Senegal or Angola in the semifinals on Friday, September 15.

Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers on Thursday, September 14 beat Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the 2017 AfroBasket to progress to the semi-final.

After losing their last group game against DR Congo, the D’Tigers got their defence of their 2015 AfroBasket on course with a 106-91 win over Cameroon.

 

D’Tigers dominated the game, winning three of the four quarters of the game in Tunis.

Nigeria took the first quarter 25-18, the second was 27-25 before the Cameroonians won the third 27-23.

The D’Tigers bounced back in the fourth quarter to round up the game with a 31-21 win.

Ike Diogu finished the game as the D’Tigers highest scorer with 28 points while Ben Mbala of Cameroon had 32 points to finish as the game’s leading scorer.

Daniel Ochefu of Nigeria had 10 rebounds while Ike Iroegbu had seven assists.

Nigeria will face the either Senegal or Angola in the semifinals on Friday, September 15at 8:30 pm.

The D’Tigers are aiming to defend the AfroBasket title the won in 2015, their first in their 14 attempts at the Africa’s premier basketball tournament.
