The Nevada Athletic Commission has confirmed boxing judge, Adelaide Byrd will be benched after her ruling in the Golovkin-Alvarez world title fight.
Some fans have asked for her to be suspended, after she gave Alvarez 10 out of 12 rounds , with calls of corruption being sounded.
Golovkin landed 218 of his punches, with Alvarez landing just 169 of his in the world middleweight title fight.
Byrd’s decision to score the fight 118-110 in favour of Alvarez was met with displeasure and discontent by the crowd at the T-mobile Arena, which was dominated by Mexicans.
Amid the huge uproar surrounding her decision the executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission has said she will not be involved in scoring any major fights in the foreseeable future.
“I’m not going to put her right back in,” Bennett told the Los Angeles Times.
“She’ll still be in the business…but she needs to catch her breath. Like in any profession, you have a bad night.
“Unfortunately, she didn’t do well. I can tell you she conducts training for us, takes judges under her wing… but her score was too wide.”
