The Council Registrar says 745,053 candidates have five credits and above, including English Language and mathematics.
The 2017 June/July National Examination Council (NECO) results are out and 70.85% of the candidates make five credits including Mathematics and English.
The National Examination Council announces the release of the exam results in Minna on Thursday, September 14.
While announcing the release, Charles Uwakwe, the Registrar of the council says 1,055,988 candidates registered for the examination, among whom 1,051,472 wrote the tests in 76 subjects.
Uwakwe says 745,053 candidates have five credits and above, including English Language and mathematics, in the examination.
Comparing candidates performance in the exams with 2016 results, Uwakwe says the 2017 results represent 1.11 per cent improvement in candidates’ performance.
The Registrar also says 903,690 candidates have credit in English Language, while 849,335 candidates have credit in General Mathematics.

While this sounds like a good news for secondary school education in Nigeria, Uwakwe, however, discloses that 50,586 candidates and 276 schools across the country were involved in examination malpractice.
Meanwhile, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiiti State has announced on his twitter page that the state leads in the 2017 NECO exams. He however praised teachers in the state for their hardwork.
He tweeted, "Ekiti leads with the best results in NECO 2017. We led in 2016, we have led again! Thanks to our teachers, congratulations to our students."
