The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board and the National Board for Technical Education have approved the commencement of academic activities in Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia.

According to the statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, the National Board for Technical Education has inspected the polytechnic's new site in Ipokia and has given its approval to begin academic activities with immediate effect.
The statement further states that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has announced the opening of its portal to prospective students to register for courses in the 2017/2018 academic session.
Why Ogunpoly was re-established
Ogun State Polytechnic was established because Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere in Abeokuta MAPOLY was upgraded to a University of Technology in 2017.
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic was formerly known as Ogun State Polytechnic before the name was changed to honour Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola who hailed from Abeokuta for his philanthropic donations to the Polytechnic.

However, in a bid to upgrade MAPOLY to a university, the state government decided to establish a new state polytechnic in Ipokia while MAPOLY becomes Moshood Abiola University of Technology, MAUTECH.
However, the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun recently announced that Moshood Abiola Polytechnic will stop to exist in 2021.
Amosun who also graduated from the Polytechnics informed the students about the development when students from higher institutions in the state stormed his office at Oke Mosan to complaint about the state of education in the state.
