Lifeless President: Nigerian Govt Speaks On Trump’s statement To Buhari
The Federal Government of Nigeria has questioned the veracity of a statement credited to the US President Donald Trump which alleged that he described President Muhammadu Buhari as a “lifeless leader.”
Trump Never Wants To Meet Someone As Lifeless As Buhari Again
The world’s leading global business publication, Financial Times reported on Monday, that Trump told his aides that he never wanted to meet someone as lifeless as Buhari again.
This was said to have occurred shortly after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30.
“The first meeting, with Nigeria’s ailing 75-year-old Muhammadu Buhari in April, ended with the US president telling aides he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again, according to three people familiar with the matter,” the newspaper claimed.
However, in his reaction, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said that if Trump said so, it would be of no significance since the President of the United States of America had earlier publicly endorsed Buhari.

Mohammed told The Punch:
“I doubt the authenticity of the claim that the President of the USA said that.
“But if truly he said so, then it is of no significance to us.
“This is because the same Trump publicly endorsed and applauded the President for a job well done.”
