Thousands Of Nigerians Won’t Be Getting Visa As US Embassy Closes Indefinitely

Thousands of Nigerians will miss their visa appointments as the United States embassy in Nigeria has announced a closure of its Lagos and Abuja offices due to the ongoing government shutdown in its country.

Literally, it means that the thousands of Nigerians seeking to apply for, or renew their visas, would be affected as their appointments would have to be rescheduled.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the embassy said the both offices would re-open once the shutdown is resolved.

“Due to the current U.S. government shutdown, the American Centers located in the Embassy, Abuja and Consulate General, Lagos are unfortunately closed,” the post read.

“They will re-open once the U.S. government shutdown is resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience to our valued patrons.”

President Donald Trump had approved a shutdown of the government of the United States over his inability to get support of the legislature in the building of the Mexican wall.

While campaigning for the US presidency in 2016, Trump had promised to erect a wall between the United States and Mexico to check the rising illegal migration from that country, assuring that the Mexican government would bear the cost of erecting the wall.
