Here’s All You Should Know As Mayweather Fights Japanese Kickboxer Nasukawa Today

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather comes out of retirement today – well, sort of – to fight Japanese kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo, in what promises to be strictly entertainment in Saitama.

The bout which should be three rounds of exhibition boxing on New Year’s Eve is not necessarily a knockout.

There will be no judges and the fight will not be added to either man’s record, regardless of the victory.

“People in Japan, listen. I will take down Mayweather,” said the 20-year-old.

 “You should look forward to it.”

Meanwhile, viewers can order to watch the fight live on FITE TV for the price of $24.99.

HOW TO WATCH

The Mayweather-Nasukawa bout will headline an evening of more than a dozen fights, which will be streamed by FITE for a fee, but not in the U.S. Fuji TV is broadcasting the fights in Japan.

WHEN AND WHERE

Floyd Mayweather vs. Tenshin Nasukawa will fight at RIZIN 14 in the Saitama Super Arena, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

The Rizin 14 event will begin at 5pm (AEDT), with 13 fights scheduled before the main event.

WHO IS TENSHIN NASUKAWA?

A 20-year-old, who has made his name in kickboxing; undefeated since turning pro. He’s currently the face of the RIZIN organisation. Nasukawa has held multiple world titles in kickboxing, and has also gone 4-0 in MMA.

HOW MUCH IS FLOYD MAKING?

Mayweather, who will bank $20million for the fight, said:

“It’s just another day. Another day like I wake up, take shower, put my clothes on.

“Fighting is something I’ve done for over 30 years, so it’s just another day. I worry about entertaining and things, but once the bell rings, it’s always entertainment. So it is about having fun, going out there and doing my best.

“Me getting knocked out or me getting knocked down … I don’t worry about it at all. If that does happen, I mean that’s entertainment. That’s all we need to see.

“I mean, I’m sure he’s taking this fight extremely serious, he’s working out at this gym. (But) it’s just another day. I don’t have to work hard for three rounds. I can basically do three rounds in my sleep. So I don’t worry about that.”
