AAC suspends Sowore for alleged financial misappropriation

Sowore was the AAC's presidential candidate in the February 23 presidential election but has now been suspended.

Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has been suspended by the partys National Executive Committee (NEC).

Sowore, who's the party's national chairman, was suspended for alleged anti-party activities, refusing to heed the tenets of the party's constitution like his failure to convene a NEC meeting, and financial misappropriation.

He was suspended during a special NEC meeting held in Abuja on Monday, May 13, 2019, with Leonard Nzenwa, the party's national secretary, immediately sworn in as acting chairman.

The committee disclosed that Sowore's suspension takes effect from March 27 and will last for six months unless the decision is overturned by a national convention of the party.

Details later.
