No automatic ticket for anybody – Kogi PDP

The decision was reached after party executives and stakeholders met to discuss issues in the party on Saturday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership in Kogi-West Senatorial district has declared that there is no automatic ticket of anybody in the upcoming 2019 general elections.

The decision was reached after party executives and stakeholders met to discuss issues in the party, Punch reports.

Apparently, Senator Dino Melaye, who just moved to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress (PDP) is currently representing Kogi West Senatorial district in the Senate.

Level playing field

The meeting which held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 promised to create a level playing field for everyone who desires to run for office.

The PDP also called on contestants to be of good behaviour and obey the party’s rules, adding that the decision is in the best interest of every stakeholder.

Slams INEC

The PDP also condemned the conduct of the recently concluded Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency election, describing it as a sham.

The  party accused the Kogi state government of using thugs and security operatives to disrupt the election and called on the Federal Government to nip the situation in the bud.

Dino Melaye a liability

In July 2018,  the PDP Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF), led by Hon. Shaibu Momoh vowed to reject any entreaty from the national secretariat to allow Melaye run for Senator in 2019.

The group also said that the Senator is not an asset to the PDP, but a liability.
